Job Description
FMIC has announced 15 Nurse Trainee positions in Kabul. FMIC provides innovative on-the-job traineeship programs in various disciplines for young people interested in pursuing careers in these industries, allowing them to gain information and develop the skills they need. Trainees are paid a set monthly transportation allowance and lunch to help them complete their program successfully. The trainees may be inducted as regular employees of the FMIC after completing the traineeship period, subject to the availability of a position and good performance. During the six-month training term, the intern will work under senior employees’ direct and close supervision.
About the FMIC:
French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children, founded in 2006, is a unique four-party public-private partnership between the Afghan Government and the French and Aga Khan Development Network.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend a one-month orientation program at the NES (Nursing Education Service), which includes classroom instruction.
- Using the Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) checklist, get to know the unit’s routine and capabilities.
- During a shift, determine the duties of the bedside nurse.
- Find out about the most frequent patient diagnoses and how to treat them.
- Learn and comprehend the significance of the unit’s infection control protocols.
- Learn why patient care documentation is so necessary.
- Understand the value of communicating with patients and their families and participate in inpatient and family education.
- Demonstrates knowledge and abilities in age-related changes and normal vital sign parameters in neonates, babies, children, adolescents, and adults.
- Participate in and attend physician rounds.
- Identify and report irregularities in patients to the supervisor and attending physicians as soon as possible.
- Perform all of the basic nursing skills listed below under supervision first, then independently.
- Identify, learn, and deliver the unit’s common medications.
- Safely administer medicines based on the patient’s age while keeping a close eye on them.
- Participate actively in a cardiopulmonary arrest situation, including proper crash cart handling.
- Administer medications to patients safely and under supervision, recognizing their indications and side effects.
- While caring for patients, apply the concept of critical care.
- Under supervision, assist in the documenting of patient care.
- Assist the physician in putting central lines and can aseptically and adequately handle them.
- Acquire the ability to care for all patients, even those who are reliant or partially reliant.
- Learn about the numerous medicines used in critical care settings and how to administer them under supervision.
- Assist a patient who is undergoing phototherapy or is in an incubator.
- Assigned, gain mastery in psychomotor abilities in critical care domains.
- Learn how to communicate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Position Requirements:
- A diploma in nursing or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an authorized program.
- Regularity and punctuality.

- Capable of organizing workload and prioritizing tasks based on patient acuity.
