Job Description

Danish Refugee Council DRC announces its 4 Emergency Officer vacancies. The Emergency Officer is a member of the Emergency Field Team responsible for carrying out DRC Afghanistan’s emergency project activities on the ground. Emergency Officer is a crucial member of the team who participates in emergency assessments and is well-versed in emergency assessment methodologies, such as household survey enumeration; maintains strong communication with communities to disseminate information about DRC’s emergency assessments and responses and obtain relevant information.

Since the end of 2010, DRC has been present in Afghanistan, executing livelihoods, protection, emergency response and preparedness, infrastructure development, supply chain management, and logistical support to UNHCR. Duties and Responsibilities:

Emergency Officers will work in a variety of field settings, including distant and difficult-to-reach areas. With the help of DRC management, safety, and access teams, and within DRC’s accepted risk thresholds, the Emergency Officer must be able to execute to a high standard under demanding and insecure settings. The Emergency Officer reports directly to the Emergency Team Leader and works under the supervision of the Emergency Team Leader.

  • Participating in field-based quick needs assessments using HEAT technologies, including data collecting via paper and digital formats
  • Make good contact and connections with other humanitarian players on the ground.
  • Organizing and carrying out emergency field distributions
  • Performing Quick Market Assessments
  • Collect the data in both paper and digital formats.
  • Contribute to the creation of basic reports on needs assessments and offered solutions.
  • Travel within and outside the region to assist with emergency response throughout the country, including joining a DRC flying team when requested and being ready to be reassigned for short periods and on short notice outside of the typical area of operation.
  • Any other responsibilities specified by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • At least one year of humanitarian experience is required, as well as prior experience with IDPs or natural catastrophes.
  • Experience with at least three years is recommended but not required.
  • At least one year of community engagement experience
  • Female candidates who are competent and have at least 6 months of relevant work experience will be considered for the next step of the hiring process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or another suitable field after high school (desired)
  • Fluency in local languages, such as Pashto and Dari, and advanced linguistic skills in English.
