Job Description

CARE Afghanistan has announced 6 Community Mobilizer positions. The Community Mobilizer ensures that project interventions are carried out effectively and efficiently and that the project’s goals and objectives are met. S/he works closely with the populations and organizations targeted for Abbott project activities to recognize and organize them. He or she should keep the project, its employees, and key community members in good standing. He can assist in identifying beneficiaries, the selection of community projects, and the resolution of conflicts on the ground.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the OMID Project Team and field workers and actively participates in Project Team Meetings to make sure to carry out the project interventions  appropriately and productively.
  • Establish a close working relationship with the project’s target communities in terms of planning and communication.
  • Ensure to carry out the project interventions quickly and successfully.
  • Contribute to the collection of initiatives and the implementation of community sub-projects.
  • Conduct frequent meetings with community elders, officials, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders at the community, district, and provincial levels to learn about their issues and find solutions.
  • To help the project program implementation in the targeted areas, communicate with health facility personnel, PPHOs, community leaders, and influential people.
  • To serve as a liaison between the agency and the community or project’s target audiences.
  • Keep the population, health services, and community health workers (CHWs) informed about the Abbott project’s initiatives.
  • Conduct supportive monitoring and oversight of health posts and services in target areas daily.
  • Deliver relevant training or awareness sessions to the target group’s population and skills improvement materials.
  • Organize and take part in all project-related field activities (practical training on collaboration between the local government and communities, consultations with communities, mobilization of venerable people)

More Duties:

  • Assist other project teams with field delivery of PPE kits and other project materials.
  • Explain the program’s goals and objectives to the communities, and maintain project ownership by persuading them of the programs’ goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that the bulk of community members are active in decision-making at the provincial health directorate.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork. 
  • Involve other team members in decision-making, and bring the boss and other team members up to date about what’s going on.
  • Assist the management team with the procurement plan, financial problems, and other documentation for the project.
  • Collect case studies in the neighborhood that show how the project’s action has benefited the community.
  • Make contact with community leaders in the Abbott project’s target area.
  • Assist male health promoters in forming community male groups and establishing connections between the HPs and health facilities in target areas.
  • Supervise and develop the skills of male health promoters who are part of the Abbott Project.
  • Interact with neighborhoods and community leaders to recognize health-related issues and to help men shape health shuras.
  • To help the project interventions in the targeted areas, communicate with community leaders and influential people.
  • Any other job that the boss assigns.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent facilitation, preparation, and group mobilization abilities
  • Having a thorough understanding of Afghan customs and cultural norms
  • Ability to serve in neighborhoods and desire to do so
  • Dari and Pashto are both excellent spoken and written languages.
  • Ability to hold group mobilization sessions
  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, sociology, health, or a related area, plus at least three to five years of experience working on health-related projects.
  • Integrity, discretion, and loyalty are of the utmost importance.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people and groups, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to operate flexibly and independently with little supervision while producing high-quality results under pressure.
  • To onboard group members and communicate with stakeholders, you’ll need strong communication skills.
  • Have excellent Dari and Pashtu communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Deep understanding of community mobilization and health-related issues.
