Job Description

Emerging Leaders Consulting Services ELCS has announced 64 Survey Data Collector jobs in different locations. The Data Collector is responsible for conducting home visits in the sampled populations, interviewing survey qualifying respondents, and collecting LQAS survey data as directed by survey procedure, under the direct supervision of the Field Supervisor.

About the Project:

The ELCS act as a core partner in the newly awarded USAID-funded Assistance for families and indigent Afghan to Thrive (AFIAT). This project aims to develop access to the delivery of quality health and nutrition services in the country.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Firstly, attend and complete AFIAT-organized LQAS survey training in the respective provinces (Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Hirat, Takhar, Badghis, and Bamyan).
• Secondly, use the pre-developed questionnaires, conduct interviews with survey qualifying respondents, community women in the selected supervisory areas of the provinces mentioned above.
• Plan group visits with the field supervisor and peer data collector to pick survey locations and respondents at random according to the survey protocol’s standards.
• Collect field data using the given technologies and instruments (programmed electronic tablets) following the standards and guidance provided during the training.
• Comply with AFIAT and ELCS HR standards and the rules and regulations that the ELCS HR team can have.
• Able to fly to all of the designated province’s targeted communities (Supervisory areas).
• Willing to work in difficult field conditions and a high-risk environment
• Moreover, when interviewing survey qualifying respondents, obtain “informed consent” from them according to the procedures.
• Administer the survey according to the instructions and guidance are given at the training.
• Allow enough time to complete the interviews within the communities while maintaining rapport with the hosts and producing accurate results.
• Make a mental note of each survey respondent’s phone number if you need to contact them in the future.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the fieldwork era, especially during interviews (Note: you represent all parties behind the survey)
• Participate in regular team in-briefings and debriefings, share your experiences, and learn from your teammates.
• Manage and use all materials properly (tablets, charger, reserve batteries, power banks, forms, letters, & folders)
• Maintain a respectful working relationship with the rest of the team (supervisor and other interviewers)
• Follow the supervisor’s instructions and make any required corrections.
• Observe COVID-19 prevention steps as guided by the survey protocol.
• Lastly, carry out all such responsibilities as delegated by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• 12th grade graduate, priority will be granted to university graduates.
• Have at least one year of data collection, health facility evaluation, and program monitoring experience.
• Prior field data collection experience in a health-related survey.
• Pashto and Dari fluency, depending on their provincial background.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as a group.
• Awareness of BPHS and EPHS will be prioritized in the selection process.
• Any data collection applications, such as ODK, Kobotoobox, or Survey CTO.
